This dedication page at the front of the bible in Mara Church is believed to have been painted by Richard Massey, brother to Mara's Levi Benson Massey. Levi, his wife Annie Maria and their youngest daughter Olgy Beatrice Massey had travelled to Manchester England to see James who had been injured during the war. Annie was diagnosed with cancer and was cared for in England where she died November 14,1917. Annie was buried in the Massey family plot in Manchester Cathedral cemetery. It is believed that this bible was presented to Levi and brought back to Canada when he and Olgy returned in December 1917.
